1- This time I air fried mine according to package instructions and they turned ourt great. Cook from a frozen state.
2- Prepare the sauce as instructed on the bag.
In all the years I’ve been buying animal-free meats that come with a sauce packet I always throw away the packet, since I like to make my own barbecue sauce. This time I decided to try it and was glad I did. Instead of tossing the chicken in the sauce though, as recommended, I served it as a dipping sauce.
Decades ago when I managed a deli in Olympia, Washington that served fried chicken, they’d save the leftover from the night before, reheat the chicken the next day and roll it in heated barbecue sauce then sell it at the same price. Customers I presume thought it was freshly cooked. To me it was overkill – the thick southern-style breading then the sauce over the breading. I liked one or the other, not both.
With Gardein wings, the breading isn’t too thick, so the addition of sauce makes it just right.
